Inside of your walls is a system of ducts that runs throughout your house. These are part of your central air conditioning system, and if there are leaks anywhere in the system, this can be costing you, both in efficiency and running cost.

Leaks are most likely to occur in locations where the pressure is the highest, which means nearest the unit, but they could occur anywhere due to damage to the ducts or improper installation.

It could be easy to think that a leak won’t hurt you since the air will be leaking back into your home, but it could result in dropped pressure further down the line, and the air could be leaking into the attic or some other area where you will not benefit from the cooled air. Another possibility is that the hot air from those locations will seep back into the system and further decrease the efficiency, as well as, bring with it dust and odors.
