Homes around the country suffer water damage every day, and there are a variety of reasons as to why this could occur. However, there is one cause that is more common than any other, and that is a burst washing machine hose.
Many times, the quality of your washer hose is going to match the quality of your washer, so if you have bought a really cheap, no-name brand washer, chances are good that the hoses that come along with it are of low quality. Since the hose does need to handle high pressure, your best bet is to replace them immediately. While your old hoses might just be made from cheap plastic, you can fairly inexpensively attain some steel braided hoses that will hold up against pressure that is much higher than you would expect from your washer.
If you are not willing to spend the extra money for peace of mind, you should make sure to regularly check your washer hoses for any weaknesses.
