Getting hot water from your faucet can be a slow process in some homes. Maybe you have a hot water heater that functions poorly, or maybe there is a long distance from the heater to the faucet. Whatever the cause, it can be very frustrating, but there are solutions. While some might go ahead and raise the temperature on their hot water heater, this is not ideal since it can cost more, and it increases the risk of scalding. There is something called a hot water recirculation pump that will let you have almost instantaneous hot water. It functions by circulating hot water from the water heater throughout your home so that it will be right there when you open the faucet. It could be accomplished by using either a dedicated loop that constantly pumps the water in a loop or an integrated loop that returns the hot water to the heater through the cold water pipes.
