Lung cancer takes many lives every year, and everyone knows that smoking is the worst thing you can do if you want to stay safe. Do you know though, what the second greatest cause for lung cancer is?
The answer is Radon gas.
This gas can be found in many homes where seeps in from the ground beneath the foundation. This can sometimes be prevented by patching up cracks and holes in the basement, but this is not always enough. Since radon is an invisible gas with no odor, you need to have a test done to find out whether you have it or not. Conditions underneath your home can change over time as well, so regular tests are recommended. In some cases there needs to be a system installed that will funnel the gas away from your home. This is accomplished by making shafts and using fans to push the air outside.
